Academy of Agriculture and Science got its start last week at Pratt Nature Center in New Milford, CT. Middle School Students from Bethel, Brookfield, Danbury, New Fairfield, New Milford, Northwest Region 7 and Waterbury and came together on October 24th and 25th to explore planting, greenhouse gases and climate change, food miles and transportation, and the importance of buying local products.
Some highlights include:
- planting garlic
- making salsa
- feeding apple cores to goats
- seeing farm animals
Coming Up:
We are going to the New Morning Natural Food Store and Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury on November 13 & 15 where they will explore natural food options in a commercial setting and receive some first hand information about what it's like to attend a vocational agricultural high school.
